just bought a nissan selena 2.0 automatic, changes down gear but wont change back up sometimes, been sat for a while, any ideas please? is it costly to fix?

Before you get too deep in to the problem i would advise changing the gearbox oil. This may cure your problem.

I can recall using a mechanic who a very big customer base - but yet he didn't even know that you check ATF fluid levels with warm engine after shifting the gears about while parked to get the right level. He thought you read cold, this meant that my car appeared to him to have the right level of ATF when as in reality she was pretty low on it. As a consequence when I found out, I topped her up with Dexron and her problems vanished. As a mechanic of 30 years experience, it beggars belief that he didn't know that. That was 15 years ago btw.
