Hi

Can anyone help have a issue with my car engine management light has come on and apperantly the fault suggest that my car thinks its a automatic, which is funny since i have a 5 speed gear box, the car is not playing up in any other way and is running great accept for this, the ecu light was cleared down but has come back on again about a week after it was clear. anyone had this issue before any suggestions of what it might be, sensor or something on the gearbox any help would be great..

it was a error which indicated the car was in park mode sorry, it was not me how saw the error code but it was strange for the car to be indicating park mode error, as its a 5 speed manual.

the exact error code is

P1706 which is a

Park/Neutral Switch Circuit Malfunction

not normally a issue on a manual 5 speed, can anyone help with what might be causing this...

took the car to dealer more than 4 weeks ago still not got repair done said they would order a part sensor on gearbox. anyone have a idea what this is called i have seen park netural sensor or a pnp switch any ideas, not going to wait any longer if i can find out what the part number name is to get resolved any help would be great...
