Hi guys, looking for some help if possible.  I have an Almera 1.5 52 reg which i have owned for wholly 2 weeks. in the past few days ive noticed a flat spot at around 3500 rpm.  Today it cut out on the motorway and the engine management light came on. i looked under the bonnet and the radiator water was bubbling and spilling out the overflow at the top of reservoir bottle. after a few mins car was running fine tho still with the flat spot. Engine management light has also gone out.  Any help would be appreciated.  Streched timing chain springs to mind(no expert).  Is this expensive?

It could be the timing chain as they are very common. However i am a little concerned about the water coming out of the overflow.

How high did the temp gauge get?

Mick

update:

after plugging in to diagnostic tool it came up with a misfiring fault.  So i checked the plugs and 2 of them were well and truely knackered, dont even know how the car fired up! Replaced the plugs which were a different size also and the car is running perfectly.  So much for a full service history!  The temp gauge was reading normal and it hasnt caused any problem since so just gonna change the thermostat in case.

Cheers
